The Society for the Advancement of Excellence in Education (SAEE) is pleased to announce Dr. Elizabeth Bredberg is assuming the role of Research Director pending the retirement of Helen Raham on July 31, 2008. Elizabeth has a PhD in education theory from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (the graduate faculty of education of the University of Toronto). Although Dr. Bredberg’s career in education has focused on special education, her interests also include educational policy, teacher education, aboriginal education, and service to students in rural and remote areas. She has taught in teacher education programs at the Universities of British Columbia and Toronto, McGill, and King’s College, Aberdeen and in the early childhood education program at Queensland University of Technology in Australia. She has lectured and presented many workshops on education issues in Canada, the UK and Australia. Dr. Bredberg has been involved in policy development regarding the support of students with special needs in British Columbia, and has been involved in interministerial collaboration regarding children and youth with special needs. Elizabeth’s education and experience will enable SAEE to continue to develop its recognized commitment to high quality education research. SAEE looks forward to the outstanding guidance that Dr. Bredberg will bring to the research department and her insights into resulting policy implications.
