School Improvement in Action: |
Building Shared School Responsibility for Student Success
In this third report from the School Improvement Grants Program, researcher Cynthia Lewis documents the efforts of six more struggling schools engaged in action research, and thoughtfully discusses the results in terms of learnings for students, staff and educational policymakers. Cynthia Lewis
Each of these schools served high proportions of at-risk learners and those who were not meeting expectations in literacy. Their case studies provide readers with an overview of each school’s intervention strategies, challenges and successes over a two-year period. Dr. Lewis’ insightful analysis of these experiences illuminates the complexity of school improvement in challenging settings and offers important insights into the internal and external structures necessary to support it. Her findings are linked to the most recent literature on school improvement, building and sustaining capacity, and the conditions necessary for scaling up progress for struggling schools across the system at large. This new set of case studies will be of value to schools and policymakers alike. ISBN 9787-0-9783018-3-5 ♦ Order ♦ |
