Parent and Teacher Views on Education: A Baseline Survey |
|
Robert Crocker, Scott Davies, Claire LaPointe, and Larry Sackney
This study gathered responses from parents and teachers on a variety of educational issues. Data were gathered through 20-minute telephone interviews conducted in the spring of 2005 by a national polling firm. Approximately 2,400 teachers and 2,000 parents, randomly selected from regional databases, provided a broadly representative sampling of views on education. Focus groups conducted in five cities augmented and informed the survey results.
Analysis involved comparison by region and among subgroups across the survey topics. A report on the findings was published in late 2005, followed by a series of policy forums in 5 regions to share the results with those who have interest in and responsibility for education policy.
The $300,000 research contract was awarded to SAEE by Max Bell Foundation following a national request for proposals process. |
