The link between education and future success has been confirmed. In a global economy where our young people compete against the best in the world, we must continue to improve student learning outcomes. As school systems undergo rapid change research is needed to fill critical gaps in our knowledge about schooling for the next century.
The Society for the Advancement of Excellence in Education was founded in 1996 as a non-partisan education research agency to encourage higher performance in public education in Canada. Our purposes as a registered charity are the commissioning and dissemination of new Canadian research in this field.
Through environmental scanning of the research, SAEE stays in front of emerging needs and issues in school improvement and student achievement, accumulating a valuable knowledge base linking policy and effective practice. From this we are able to develop a visionary research agenda, providing independent analysis of government initiatives and promising local innovations across Canada. Each SAEE study offers thoughtful analysis of the implications for policy and practice along with the findings of the research. |

To accomplish its mission, SAEE: ♦ conducts and disseminates research ♦ maintains an information centre ♦ analyzes education trends, policies and reform initiatives ♦ hosts workshops, seminars and symposia ♦ collaborates with other organizations for school improvement
The most important work of SAEE is field research in Canada's public schools. With generous support from Canadian foundations, we have commissioned a range of studies to expand the knowledge base about school change and effectiveness. SAEE studies are rigorously designed and reviewed, conducted independently, and their findings shared widely across Canada.
